St John’s is an active, welcoming family with lots going on. This section will tell you a bit about who we are and what goes on. For the latest updates follow us on Facebook.
Our Vicar, Revd Mike
Mike Firbank is the vicar at St John’s. He’s an experienced priest who has served communities in Cornwall and other parts of Derbyshire before being installed at St John’s on 27 July 2026.

The Churchwardens
Jo Morrison and Mary Musson (pictured above) are currently serving as wardens at St John’s. The churchwardens take care of many day-to-day tasks. If you would like to talk them about anything, come along and see them on Sunday or contact the office at church.office@stjohnlongeaton.org.uk
The Parochial Church Council
‘Parochial’ is a word which describes the parish. The PCC is the group responsible for overseeing the governance of the church. We meet every two months as we talk about God’s plan for St John’s.
Home Groups
Our home groups meet on a weekly or fortnightly basis to study God’s word, for fellowship, and social activities.
Young People
From little ones to teenagers, St John’s is blessed by our children and young people.
Each Sunday, our 10am service brings together people of all ages for a variety of services. On most Sundays, children and young people can join in with dedicated group activities – such as Godly Play for younger children and Delta for those aged 11+.
On regular Sundays, and for other special occasions, our whole community comes together in church and everyone is engaged in worship.
