Our Community

We believe that we are called by God to serve our community.

Welcome on Wednesday (WoW)

Started last summer, WoW has grown quickly.  We serve a hot meal on a Wednesday lunchtime to anyone who comes through our doors.  Thanks to our volunteers and the generosity of local businesses, these meals are free.  If you would like a hot meal or just some company please do pop in at 12pm.

Food Bank

Originally set up under St John’s, Long Eaton & Sawley food bank last year provided 1171 emergency food supplies to individuals and families in our local community who had fallen on hard times.  We continue to be closely involved in the food bank, you can find out more here

St John’s works with a number of schools and an the adult day centre within our parish to bring God’s word alive.  Through Open the Book, Experience Christmas and Easter we engage the young people of our community with the message of God’s redeeming love.
